Finding Your Voice: How Young People Can Make A Difference

Duration: 45 - 60 minutes

Grades: 6th - 12th

School shootings. Violence. The #metoo movement. Black Lives Matter. Racism. The list of complex and sometimes overwhelming issues facing students today can leave them wondering how to process their feelings about such big topics. Finding Your Voices shows students how young people just like them have led many of the important social and political movements for change in this country. The program looks at the involvement of young activists throughout history: from the American Revolution through the civil rights movement and into present-day protests against school shootings, racism, and climate change, among others. Finding Your Voice shows students that their words and actions have value, and that they too can play an important role in the struggle for social justice and change.
